Mozilla has announced Firefox 76 with a good list of news designed to improve the user experience. This new version of the browser arrives a month after Firefox 75 following the new agile development policies which foresee a release every 6-8 weeks.
The developers have improved the Picture-in-Picture functionality - which allows you to minimize a video that is playing for example on Netflix or YouTube - introduced at the beginning of December with version 71 and also available on Linux starting from Firefox 72.
Also new for the password management tool, Lockwise. It now features two new alerts that warn users when the password or website has been hacked. In addition, you now need to enter your account password in order to see all the saved passwords. The tool is also able to automatically generate new secure and complex passwords that can be stored and synchronized between the various devices. It is hoped that in the future it will also improve on Android where some problems persist.
Interesting support for Audio Worklets which includes the possibility of joining Zoom calls without the need for additional downloads.
Update & Changelog
To manually update the procedure as usual. You have to open the menu under the three horizontal bars at the top right, then click on the help icon and choose About Firefox. Alternatively, if you want to try Firefox 76, you can download it from the official Mozilla website, from Flathub or from the Snap Store. Users of all Ubuntu-based distributions (such as Linux Mint, elementary OS, Zorin OS, etc) will automatically receive the update through the Software Updater tool in the next few days. For more details, I refer you to the official release notes.
