How to download torrents from the web, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch (not Jailbreak)

I think none of those who use an Apple wireless device is approved we expect to download an official application Torrents ,Would be an incredible mess on the first day, and however it is considered legal (in some countries), I doubt that a company "closed" dares deal with such demands as a violation of law or ease of piracy. This is what companies always claim.

Well, for those who are addicted to .Torrent and we have an IOS-based device, there is a simple alternative P2P access to content and best of all, no need to do Jailbreak or modify the operating system of our team. If you agree (yeah sure), I leave the next step, very simple indeed.

1. The first thing to do is create an account free The Recommended is to place a valid email address as we will need confirming the registration.

2. If it we got the account activation, now we can only find the .Torrent we want to download (Mininova, Thepiratebay or Eztv which are more known) and copy the URL for the torrent. Now that we have copied the address, we will direct to Web ,But before proceeding we download Filer for iOS (iTunes link), An application that will allow us to begin the download, since Safari mobile does not. It has a paid version available but the Lite version is enough.

3. To access to torrific we confirm that we, and should have mail in your inbox. Open Filer from our device and we went to the website, and in the main page going to paste the URL of the torrent we want to download in the search box and press the "Get". After validate information, we will see a button above to begin downloading the file .torrent.

4. If all goes well, you should already have the. Torrent being downloaded.

Note: as you may have noticed, Torrific also works from the computer, a good alternative if clients want to use torrents.

10 reasons to make the Jailbreak to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

If you have an iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and now the Apple TV) surely you've noticed that it has some limitations that should not have because the device has the ability to do, which is why there Jailbreak a procedure that lets you do whatever you want with your phone, how to install unofficial applications and many more that we will see.

Many people who have one of these devices that I have asked why the Jailbreak?, What bieneficios have?. Some people believe that the only reason to install applications is pirated, but not, in fact this is not the philosophy of the proponents of Jailbreak ,For this, i have compiled a list of 10 reasons to ask the Jailbreak iOS your device.
  1. Customize the user interface - It does so with applications such as Winterboard.
  2. Play classic video games - Thanks to PlayStation Emulator, NES, Sega Genesis, Etc.
  3. Install a VNC server - On the App Store there are many clients to connect to a server VNC ,But there are applications that Cydia turn your iPhone into a VNC server.
  4. Adds support for more devices Bluethoot - Just install BTstack packages and will support more keyboards, GPS, etc.
  5. Access to the file system - To modify the innards of your system.
  6. Quickly access preferences - It does so with the application SBSettings.
  7. Get a better screen locking - Important information showing the application Element.
  8. Share your 3G Internet with your PC - Thanks to applications such as MyWi or PdaNet.
  9. Use your 3G connection without restrictions - Very useful for making calls with FaceTime and iTunes download large files without being prompted to connect to a WiFi network, through the application My3G.
  10. Synchronize your device with iTunes using the WiFi network - Not have to connect via USB, thanks to the application Wi-Fi Sync.

Most of these applications will find in Cydia.

RefreshPC to return your PC to zero

Sometimes a bad registry setting or a system service that can eliminate cause serious problems, and more so for a long time since we do maintenance or reinstall Windows.

RefreshPC is a tool that allows us to "return to zero" our computer just a very simple and automatic. Among the things we can do this little program are:
  • Registry settings back to zero
  • Return the configuration of system services to zero
  • Delete temporary files
  • Delete files in the folder Prefetcht

Free Opener, a program to open any file format

One of the major problems of file formats is that we have several different programs to open them, and sometimes it happens that we have to open a directory or files you know which program opens.

Free Opener is an application that opens what they wish, supports over 75 different file formats. With this program we can open all those files without the need to have installed dozens of different programs.

I leave the full list of supported formats after the break because it is lengthy:

10 reasons to choose Gimp before Photoshop

Photoshop is the image editing software more popular, to the extent that it has spawned a new verb from that program: Photoshop, which means to modify or enhance an image digitally. But among the users of free software, there is a more popular term "gimp" and is in full swing.

Gimp is a free and superior alternative to Photoshop at various points. Therefore I'll give ten good reasons for choosing Gimp before Photoshop.

1.Minimum Requirements
Gimp can be used in most computers, since does not require very high technical specifications for operation. The minimum RAM required to run Gimp is 128Mb. To run Photoshop CS 5 requires at least 1000Mb.

Gimp is completely customizable. You can change the look of the tools, icons, button positions, etc.. Photoshop is not as flexible in this regard.

Starting Photoshop is more powerful than Gimp, but usually includes tools that ordinary users will not use ever. Gimp does not include all standard tools, but expanding its features can get a tool as powerful as Photoshop. Thus Gimp gets to be more user-friendly yet simple to use.

Gimp offers regular upgrades and updates. The software is updated frequently and online, without having to purchase or buy the next version of software as with Photoshop.

Gimp offers a huge range of extensions. Filters, brushes, effects,. Being free software, allows anyone can add and improve extension and filters, which offers a wider range and better quality than Photoshop.

Gimp needs just 30Mb of disk space to install. With Photoshop you will need gigabytes to do emulate. Addition Gimp is faster Photoshop, even on older computers.

The community of Gimp is free and open, which makes Gimp has plenty of tutorials, help, extensions and improvements continuing to improve the user experience and adds a lot to the program itself. Photoshop has also user communities, but as proprietary software, the possibilities are reduced to share experiences of use. Gimp has no limitation.

Gimp is available for Windows, Mac and GNU/Linux. Photoshop only for Microsoft and Apple systems. That is, the use of Photoshop necessarily imply the use of a proprietary system and payment, with all that that implies in terms of freedom, security and money.

Gimp can be downloaded for free from the network and by legal (Although you can donate something to your programmers if appropriate). Photoshop is an application fee and also very expensive. Most people can not pay that money for editing photos, making copies resort to "pirates." (Something absurd to have the option of Gimp in a cost-free)

Gimp is free software. This means you can use it for whatever you want, modify it to your liking, add or remove features, copy to a disk and give it to whoever you want, put it on your site, pass it to your classmates etc. That is, Gimp offers free to use it as you want, no company will impose no, you decide what to do. Photoshop is proprietary software. That means you can not copy or distribute without permission, or lend, or modify to your liking, or adapt to your needs. Have to use the Photoshop software to you, and if you like, because you hold.

Windows 8 Beta will be released in September

After spreading through the network Windows 8 Beta could come next September, has begun to talk a lot about what this represents, because as many know, is supposed to operating system is designed for tablets.

And yes maybe you think is highly competitive and the market for tablets in how operating systems, with the company on the block and the search engine, but obviously this would bring something new to the table because Microsoft already have working agreements with nearly every major manufacturer tablets that can be released tablets.

What do you think? Although perhaps a bit early for a verdict that users always think will benefit the more competition there. At the moment we can only Wait for the Windows 8 Beta from which we will be informing.

KDE 4.6.3 on Fedora 15

As you know Fedora 15 Lovelock appeared a few days ago, A distribution that is great cover letter including GNOME 3 and GNOME Shell for the user interface. This new desktop environment which is installed by default does not make us forget that Fedora 15 does not have forgotten the other alternatives, such as KDE.

In fact, kde-desktop meta package contains everything you need to acces to this desktop environment from the start session manager including, gdm. Once installed we have before us KDE SC 4.6.3 ,the most recent stable version -You know that first beta of KDE 4.7 is in the street of this development.

The Wallpaper when logging in using KDE SC 4.6.3 on Fedora 15 is rather creepy -At least I do not liked anything, but otherwise you will find a facility that you can customize to your taste and offering you all the benefits of this fantastic solution.

Thus, if you are fans of KDE ,Not forget that Fedora 15 brings about all your internal improvements, which are many, the ability to work well with this desktop environment.

Fedora 15, available: Welcome, GNOME 3

What we were announcing for some time, we have been monitoring the Preliminary versions ,But we already have with us. Fedora 15 Lovelock is available in the Fedora websites ,And also we have the release notes and the official announcement of the release.

Fedora 15 Lovelock comes with a radical change in the desktop environment: GNOME 2.32 pass to GNOME 3 and in particular GNOME Shell ,An interface that offers a very different user paradigm that we drove so far and we have to get to know it better.

Besides this, in Fedora 15 we find many significant improvements, such as Support native filesystem Btrfs, Which is the default system chosen for installation, maybe that we see in Fedora 16 - but it is available when we prepare the partitioning scheme.

The reporting system of crashes and errors, ABRT, has also been improved, along with a more efficient resolution of problems with SELinux. The Live image compression has been done with XZ instead of gzip, which saves 10% space.

The best Power Management ,The inclusion of LibreOffice as office suite, the arrival of Firefox 4 and of course the presence of two alternative desktop environments -KDE SC 4.6 and Xfce 4.8 completed a distribution that does not stop there and further proposed improvements for developers (such as a suite aimed at those who do research in the field of robotics) and system administrators.

You can find full details on the distribution of two key documents: the
official announcement and the much larger Release Notes. And of course, Fedora 15 can be downloaded to start testing as soon as possible from the Official Website ,Or via these download links, complemented with downloads via BitTorrent :

How to recover GRUB after Install windows

This is the situation for example, have decided installing ubuntu with windows, Already had windows and install ubuntu then. At the time, they must reinstall windows because as always full of viruses and/or was slow. When you reinstalled windows suddenly turning on the pc and can not choose which operating system to start, are "forced" to always start windows. There are 3 possible solutions to this:

Option 1: Recover grub using a linux livecd

Option 2: Recover grub using Super Grub2 Disk

Super Grub2 is a program that runs like a linux livecd only has several features related to the grub. I will explain how Recover grub with this program.

1 - Download the ISO of Super Grub2 Disk from here.

2 - Burn the ISO into a CD and boot the pc from that cd

3 - Choose the option to Detect Any OS

That will show us a list of operating systems you have installed something like this:

There should be chosen with the arrows on the linux distro that wants to start and give enter. What we will do this is to start this distro and from there we will recover the grub.

4 - Once you have loaded the distro open a console and type:
sudo grub-install –recheck /dev/sda
And then
sudo update-grub
5 - Restart the pc without the super grub2 disk cd set. And you will see that his start this as it was before installing hasefroch windows.

Option 3: Using single drive to Ubuntu or another distro

Stop having bad blood and use the disc only for a linux distro. Can installing ubuntu, installing fedora, Mint or any of many other good distros.

4 sites to make international phone calls free or very cheap

In our days where conversations do audio, video or text to anywhere in the world through the internet we find it a bit absurd that international telephone calls are still so expensive, but this is partly due to the interconnection fees that some governments or companies charge, but the good news is that there are sites that allow you free call some countries and not others free but very cheap, here I'll show you a list of 4 sites that have collected Here.

Evaphone is a site that we had recommended and works very well, offers free calls to many countries, including Mexico, where you have a limit of 2 free calls per day, free calls you to listen to an ad for a few seconds before connecting the call after you finish those two free calls per day and want to keep calling with a very cheap per minute rates.

Link to site Evaphone.

Jaxtr uses its own local access numbers to connect people in different countries. That's how it works - First you write your phone number and that of your friend, then the site will show you a local number of Jaxtr which you dial, then an automated attendant answers you where you enter the phone number of your friend. Thus international calls at local phone rates, also has mobile application how: iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.

Link to site Jaxtr.

iCall in iPhone application and we've tested, but also has a Web version and a desktop version, iCall lets you make free calls from 3 minutes to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

Link to site iCall.

This is a service that works only for people living in the United States or have a phone number with local number in USA, This is very useful to families who live there who want to call their home countries, the service offers unlimited long distance or international 5 minutes to over 50 countries by checking only a local access number.

As you can see not all Skype to make calls over the Internet, there are always cheaper options but less known.

How to save battery in Android

Although I'm pretty happy with my Android phone for my old you are, I think he still has something important to be optimized and it is the battery life, which is usually very brief. My HTC Magic, Which is the first Android phones that brought this brand has a life span ranging from 4 to 12 hours, depending on what you are doing and what ROM you are using at the time, but most of the time duration is rather low. I have seen this happen to many users of Android that must carry the wall charger and car with them everywhere.

To resolve this problem you can use some software. For example, Lifehacker talk JuiceDefender, Which automatically turns off all that is needed for energy expenditure is always lower. In the Market There are applications such as Battery Doctor they also offer similar support to the former. However, I think we can do this manually and be much better. So after research and test some things, these are the tips to save battery on Android.
  1. The first thing you should do is to realize which applications are killing your battery. To do this just press your menu button, go to Settings, and then press down "About phone". There you will see "Battery Use", which will give you a detailed list of things that are making your phone dies quickly. With this you can attack the major problems.
  2. Something you spend a lot of energy is to have the brightness of the screen very strong. As simple as the light that shows your phone. To lower go to Settings/Display/Brightness and put a little less. It will save you a lot darker but with a slight change battery. And if at night you see nothing, rises a little and go.
  3. Turn off the GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. Each of these are bad for energy expenditure. I always turned off and I have is when the battery life lasts me. Retailer know this, that is, if you use applications that locate you with GPS, remove this option, and with regard to WiFi, off to stop using it.
  4. Another good way to save battery is disable notifications. Of this I am not a fan because I like to find out immediately if I get an email, for example, but certainly the simple fact that not checking the server each time makes the phone is in a period of rest until you do it manually. So to save the most, disables the client updates of Twitter, the Facebook, email, everything.
  5. Delete applications you do not use and kill processes still running after finishing with them is a good method. So go and uninstall any applications you no longer use to free up space and not run ever. You can also use a process manager to create no longer in use. Some Launchers have this integrated. You may want to install Go Launcher EX that brings one built.
Doing all these things or at least a couple of them will improve your battery life. Test a few days to notice the change.

How to tell if an extension is causing your Firefox slower

One of the things he did to stop using Firefox and Google Chrome marry is that it seemed very slow. Perhaps it is not much at all, but if you have a computer that is already fairly obsolete and also have a Internet connection, I fully understand when I say you need a browser that actually works well.

Well, this is more of a news/tips/tutorial, it appears that the Firefox people are eager to gain ground in the world of browsers. They have released a statement saying each extension that you put into your browser you do, on average 10% slower than normal. This applies to overall performance. To me and I thought that when you install many extensions in other versions of Firefox, this was put to turtle speed.

To find out if any of the extensions you are using Firefox do that you slow down, there really is no automatic method. You'll have to go to the area of your Firefox add-ons that get in the Tools menu.

Then, when viewing the list of aggregates, look-ins. Here comes the "ant's work" as they say here, because they have to be aware of the listings that Mozilla is offering this link ,Where analysis of performance of the 100 extensions used by Firefox users and show you what are the most damaging.

If you look at the picture above, are listed the 7 worst, and I bet more than you see there are installed in your browser. I know that FlashGot and FoxyTunes being (or at least were) in my repertoire.
The winner is to FoxLingo result, that almost makes me want to mourn what is harmful. Other than those mentioned are those of StumbleUpon, Yoono, DownThemAll, Feedly and even the well-known Greasemonkey. These results will change every month and they have updates accessories. Besides this, in the next two weeks, he added a note to each extension that makes the browser at least 25% slower so that when you go to download alert.

So I recommend that if they're trying Firefox 4, which is much better than previous versions, to get clean because despite its new capabilities is not immune to that extensions do have a poor performance.

Download the Daily Builds of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

As happened with past editions of Ubuntu, the distribution developers have made available to all users of daily builds of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot ,The future version of the Canonical distro.

Here we warn, yes, that's not delude us too: for the moment available images are not very usable, And indeed in our tests could not install them on your hard disk.

Solo could run as a Live CD, And appearance, as you can see in the picture accompanying the article, is quite depressing.

But it is only a first step. Sure that very soon we will see daily builds much more promising for a system on which we will move more and more details in the coming weeks. Can download the daily builds from here.

Bluetooth and ath9k in Natty

If you installed Ubuntu Natty, and you have a bluetooth adapter and a Atheros wifi card, you'll be having a couple of annoying bugs.

In the case of Bluetooth, there appears to be a problem with the Bluetooth stack that makes it impossible to use any adapter, it always appears as disconnected or down. The solution is simple, restarting the bluetooth service through:
sudo service bluetooth restart
With that problem should disappear, to make the change permanent you can edit the file "/etc/rc.local" add the following line to the end:
service bluetooth restart
For Atheros card, there is a kernel panic when using them, to fix can be installed pre-release version of the kernel. Can be found at the following repository

This also solves the previous problem with the Bluetooth, so it would be necessary steps before commenting.

A third option, if you can "afford" it would be expected to occur the kernel update that fixes the problem.

Upgrade KDE 4.6.0 to the latest version of openSUSE 11.4

If your system is openSUSE 11.4 and your KDE desktop, version of this is the 4.6.0. It is very easy to catch and upgrade the entire environment to the latest version. Let's see how.

Before giving the instructions, it should be noted that although the method is considered reliable, There is never one hundred percent sure nothing in matters of software, so go or not these steps is everyone's responsibility. Moreover, whatever your user experience, it should be good Backup, Just in case.

The upgrade to new versions of KDE can be done via YaST, but face it faster and more reliable in the command line with zypper. Three steps are enough (always as root):

zypper ar -f kde46
This adds the repository of KDE SC 4.6 for openSUSE 11.4. At this time the update will KDE SC 4.6.3, When leaving the following will be added to upgrades that you have pending, and so on (you only have two updates to the current desktop branch, and in no case be updated when you exit KDE SC 4.7).
zypper ref
This action update repositories, The next will start the Desktop Update and its components.
zypper dup -r kde46
Possible problems that you can find:

If zypper reports errors with packages and given a choice between breaking units or keep the old version of a package, do not break anything, keep the local version, Future updates will be responsible for solving the problem.

If once you have updated ,it to reboot (mandatory) and your password, you turn to again and again to the login screen, select the option "Session Type" ,The environment in which log on, it would be "KDE Plasma Workspace".

Once on the desktop should update the system ,Either from Konsole ("zypper up" as root), either from YaST.

With this update to the latest version of KDE SC not only find a more polished desktop, there are extra gifts in the form of latest versions of applications as Amarok 2.4.1, Choqok 1.1, Kaffeine 1.2.2, including some not so nice (Depending on your setup packages).

Another thing to keep in mind is that if this post is directed solely to openSUSE 11.4 is for good reason: if upgrading from KDE SC 4.5 to KDE SC 4.6 can cause more of a problem with desktop settings and how they work, let alone from the KDE SC 4.4 that comes with openSUSE 11.3.

Chrome 13 and Firefox 5: goodbye to the URL bar?

The developers of Google Chrome are working on ways to maximize usable space to display web pages. First redesigned the position and shape of the tabs show ,Also worked in a dropdown menu from a single access, but now want to save more vertical space.

And they will with a unique idea: hide the navigation bar where we write the URLs where we run our browser. This bar has been a constant in all browsers that have been released, but Google could revolutionize this segment again with a version of Chrome to hide the navigation bar.

The previous and next buttons change their position, being located to the left of the tabs, and the user could return to see the navigation bar if you click on a tab. That bar "floating" will remain active while the cursor is to enter a URL, but if we go to another part of the page the bar will hide a few seconds.

Choice and compilation is available in Chrome Canary 13 for WindowsA very preliminary version of a browser that could offer this feature as standard in the coming weeks, and still not available in the builds of Mac OS X or Linux. In fact, in the collection of Windows is not activated by default and must be activated in the internal menu that appears when you type Chrome about:flags in the navigation bar.

The choice is interesting, but as noted by some analysts also dangerous because information disappears even more interesting was the navigation bar ,Such as site security, the reload button and detention of the cargo, the option to mark as a favorite web site instantly or what kind of URL we were visiting at all times.

The Firefox developers also seem to have embraced the idea immediately, because there is already a Mozilla Labs add-on that lets you apply the same function to the Firefox browser.

The supplement, called LessChrome HD ,Can be installed in Firefox 4, and will all the toolbars that are below the tabs are hidden. These bars again when we move the pointer over the tabs or click on another tab.

The idea behind the extension LessChrome HD comes in part from an experiment and veteran Mozilla Labs named Home Dash ,That proposes a minimalist navigation with an interface where all the tools of the browser interface are hidden and appear only at certain times and in the form of a unique HUD display.

Firefox 5.0 Beta

Confirming the new development process of new versions of its flagship browser, Mozilla has released The first beta of Firefox 5. At the same time, the channel has officially dawn to start testing the next version of the browser (in this case the beta 2).

At first glance, not much changes on an aesthetic level. The tabs are on top, the status bar is absent, and the menus are just as you can see in version 4.0.x. The changes have actually been made internally. So if you usually go to sites like gmail, or others that make extensive use of JavaScript engine, you will notice the difference.

As a listing to highlight the improvements:
  • Added enhanced support for CSS animations.
  • The property of "no trace" has been moved to facilitate its visibility (now you can see in Options/Privacy).
  • Improved canvas, JavaScript, memory and network performance.
  • Better support for HTML5, XHR, MathML and SMIL
  • Changes in the spelling of some languages.
  • Better integration with Linux.
  • Added support for easy switching between channels of development (accessible from the "About ...")
In theory, the final version will be the end of June (it is said that for 24 tentative date), showing an unprecedented agility to what we were used, but confirmed the new way of working.

Keep in mind that despite its stability and good performance, is a development version and everything can fail. Is remembered as always, that this version is for testing and for users interested in collaborate with development.

Anyway, if you're risky, express your opinion using the "Opinion" in the toolbar, or report bugs in bugzilla. And if you like challenges, try changing channels development from within the browser. Got a SUMO article you explain it very easily.

Create an application launcher in Gnome 3

Today I present a new setback in GNOME 3, And although his solution is quite simple, I want to share with you, if someone has the same problem.

The Problem

After you have installed Firefox 5 Aurora and Firefox 6 Nightly ,I had to manually run through Alt+F2 ,Because each assigned a different user profile ,In addition to the default profile Firefox 4.

The solution was very simple in GNOME 2, And that was enough create an application launcher for each of them, but in GNOME Shell panels do not have to create such launchers, and Dash can not customize the command running his launcher. So I thought on the desktop ... but by default can not be manipulated directly!, Or I can not give right-click to see its context menu.

The Solution

Remember when enabled Buttons Minimize and Maximize in GNOME 3? So, we use the GNOME Tweak Tool, The same application will serve to enable the desktop.

If you do not have it installed, do so now.
  • In ArchLinux (Found in the repository [Extra]):
sudo pacman -Sy gnome-tweak-tool
  • In Fedora (Found in the official repo Fedora 15 Beta):
sudo yum install gnome-tweak-tool
sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool
When implementing Tweak Tool, Go to section File Manager ,And enable the option "Have file manager handle the desktop".

That's it! We can now right click on your desktop

and create the application launchers that we need.

Every time I like GNOME 3

Useful linux commands for beginners

Beginners installed linux (in general perform the installation of Ubuntu) and it seems all cute till it's time to follow any tutorials on the internet and almost always use a little tutorials require the console and insert some linux commands. Each day more graphics applications to appear as in the console but in a graphical interface, but that does not mean that doing things from the console is more comfortable and faster.

Then, as an aid to newcomers quickly see some linux commands, The most used. We will not delve into each one because they all have many options, instead I'll just name they do.

What to do after Install Debian Squeeze: The most basic

Today share some basic steps to make our Debian Squeeze much more functional than the default.

Note : I remember my computer (my beloved gadget) is a Pentium 4 a 3.00 GHz with 1GB of RAM, ATI Xpress 200 (integrated 64MB) and use the i386 version of Debian Squeeze.

1) Edit the repositories:

The first thing to do after (assuming you have no trouble connecting to the internet) to install Debian Squeeze is to edit our repositories, we do as follows:

Open a terminal (Menu>Accessories>Terminal) And write the following:
to login as root, we asked our root password, write it and then wrote the following:
gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
delete everything you have and copy the following:
## Debian – Stable
deb stable main contrib non-free
deb-src stable main contrib non-free
## Security Updates
deb stable/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src stable/updates main contrib non-free
## Multimedia stable
deb stable main non-free
After doing this save the changes and close the gedit.

Subsequently update the repositories (still logged in as root):
aptitude update
we get an error like the following:
W: GPG error: stable Release: The following signatures could not be verified because the public key is not available : NO_PUBKEY 07DC563D1F41B907
Do not worry, as in some versions of Ubuntu that happens not to be locked up Debian-Multimedia, which escrbiendo installed in a terminal (logged as root):
gpg --keyserver --recv-key 1F41B907
After that the following appears:
gpg:  requesting key 1F41B907 of hkp server
gpg: /root/.gnupg/trustdb.gpg: has created trusted database
gpg: clave 1F41B907: public key "Christian Marillat <>" imported
gpg: keys are not absolutely trusted
gpg: Total amount processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1
After this step we wrote the following in Terminal:
gpg --export --armor 1F41B907 | apt-key add -
By applying this step we must give an OK. return to update the information repositories:
aptitude update
2) Install basic packages for the compilation of packages:

Sometimes it is necessary to have basic compilation tools to install packages from source code, for that we need the package build-essential, We can install by opening a terminal (logged as root) and typing:
aptitude install build-essential
3) Install basic multimedia codecs:

After configuring the repositories, you can install the basic multimedia codecs for playback of audio and video formats common to do write the following in the terminal (logged as root):
For 32-bit
aptitude install w32codecs libdvdcss2 gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 ffmpeg sox twolame vorbis-tools lame faad gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad avifile-divx-plugin libfacc0
For 64-bit
aptitude install w64codecs libdvdcss2 gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 ffmpeg sox twolame vorbis-tools  lame faad gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad avifile-divx-plugin libfacc0
4) Other major codecs (Java and Flash, Rar, 7z)

To install sun-java6 in our computer must write the following in the console (logged in as root):
aptitude install sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-jdk sun-java6-jre sun-java6-bin sun-java6-sources
To install the plugin for play videos in Flash format wrote the following in the console (logged in as root):
aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree
Sometimes we have to deal with compressed files, especially with the format .rar is proprietary, to compress/unzip files in this format should install the packages rar, unrar, p7zip-full and p7zip-rar ,To do this open a terminal and type the following (logged as root):
aptitude install rar unrar p7zip-full p7zip-rar
5) Profit "core" is left out of the first installation CD of Debian Squeeze:

There are some utilities "core" to install the first CD of Debian Squeeze we left out as the gnome calculator, the utility to take screenshot of gnome, System Monitor, disk utility, Among others, here each of you can choose to install and no, I installed the following:

Utility to capture gnome desktop:

In a terminal logged in as root type the following:
aptitude install gnome-screenshot
System Monitor

In a terminal logged in as root type the following:
aptitude install gnome-system-monitor
Disk Utility

In a terminal logged in as root type:
aptitude install gnome-disk-utility

Let the terminal, we log in as root and type the following:
aptitude install gcalctool

It is a utility that we need to install packages .deb you download a couple of clicks, the install by typing in a terminal (logged as root):
aptitude install gdebi
Utilities Nautilus and terminal root:

There are times when you need to work with graphic files but with administrative rights (such as copying and pasting a wallpaper in /usr/share/backgrounds, for example), for this we use the extension nautilus-gksu. When you install this extension also installs the package gksu, Which is a graphical interface su and opens an entry in the gnome menu with a program called Terminal "Root", which is useful when you want to perform administrative tasks from the console and install packages, install it by typing in a console (logged in as root):
aptitude install nautilus-gksu
Theme engines gtk+ 2.0 and core themes gnome:

When you install Debian Squeeze it comes with the Clearlooks theme and few alternative options, for more gtk themes at our disposal, we can install the following packages, typing in a terminal (logged as root) the following:
aptitude install gtk2-engines gtk2-engines-murrine murrine-themes gnome-themes-more
6) You need to work with NTFS partitions:

If you have NTFS partitions on your computer, it is likely that at some point want to copy a file or create a file in one of them, if you do it with the newly installed system you take with huge star since the write support for NTFS partition does not come by default when you install first Debian Squeeze CD, but there is no reason to neglect this alarm is resolved with a single command, installing the package ntfs-3g, As follows: Open a terminal, we log in as root and type:
aptitude install ntfs-3g
After you finish installing the package and ready to restart our computer.

7) Miscellaneous:

Before proceeding with this point clarified that the programs we have installed from official Debian Squeeze repositories so "we can not access the latest versions of some programs, such as the current version VLC Media Player is 1.1.9, from Debian Squeeze repositories we have available VLC Media Player 1.1.3-1 ,That I have currently installed and which I had no problems, there are some exceptions to that rule then I will show, for now I will share some applications "core" have the system installed for better performing without losing minimalism".

My favorite players

I'm loving the programs that consume few resources and have many features in the field of players these are the basic applications I use every day in terms of multimedia involves:
  • In my favorite video is the VLC Media Player, which we have available version 1.1.3-1 from repositories and installed as follows: We went to a terminal and type (logged as root):
aptitude install vlc mozilla-plugin-vlc
aptitude install guayadeque
aptitude install radiotray

I like the minimalist applications installed so that only the word processor Abiword and spreadsheet Gnumeric ,to do so open a terminal and type (logged as root):
aptitude install abiword abiword-plugin-grammar abiword-plugin-mathview gnumeric gnumeric-plugins-extra
For those who want a more comprehensive solution can be installed OpenOffice 3.2.1-11 from Debian Squeeze official repositories installing the metapackage ,By typing in a terminal (logged as root) the following:
aptitude install myspell-es openclipart

Twitter Client

For those who use this network is only necessary to have a twitter client for your desktop, my client's' preferred the fantastic turpial, Which is very functional, consumes few resources and Thanks to its development team installer have the latest version (1.3.4) for Debian, you can download from here and we can install it by right clicking on the package and choosing install with gdebi:

Then we GDebi window click the Install button and ready we installed on our Debian Squeeze Oriole.

Ended at this point, "the first installment of this series, there are some things that I left out that I will discuss in" Part 2 "of this post which was already quite long.

I hope you find it useful and as always thank you very much for your attention dear readers.

The new version of Linux Kernel, version 2.6.39

Today Linus Tovarld announced the release of the final version of the kernel, version 2.6.39, after 65 weeks of development and with a bit of doubt, and with some hesitation, since the same Torvalds said he would have preferred to launch an RC version of the Kernel

The main improvements are announced in this release are:

Some of its improvements since the 2.6.38 version:
  • The including the Nouveau drivers for Nvidia cards that promise to outperform the owner driver, As was the case Ati with the Kernel 2.6.38, although in the latter case slightly disappointing, given the expectations.
  • Improvements in the file system EXT4.
  • Support for the new graphics chips AMD or GMA500 chips and WLAN of Intel 2000 series.
  • Support  WiFi Realtek RTL8192CU and RTL8188CU.
  • Support  USB 3.0.
  • Controller WMI for new ASUS netbooks.
Interface Enhancements  SCSI, Among others.

GRUB 1.99: free path to Btrfs

Maybe some you have already used in some of your Linux installation of Btrfs file system, In which MeeGo- just leave your Version 1.2- Is the default in other distributions but was still almost regarded as an experimental alternative.

In fact, you could use Btrfs for your file systems, but always with a limitation: boot partition should be created independently and I had to use a file system "conventional" as ext3 or ext4 ,So that everything is as it should go. Such discomfort is likely to have caused many users do not create partitions/boot apart, ended up using ext4 on everything.

But the support is growing Btrfs. Both by the kernel -in the Linux kernel 2.6.39 that was recently there have been some significant improvements- As by other components, such as by the boot loader GRUB.

In fact, in the newly released GRUB 1.99 find full support for both systems start Btrfs partitions and from ZFS partition (Much less exploited in Linux). As indicated in The H Open ,That will allow you to install complete systems with the Linux file system, but also there have been changes and improvements in the GRUB Script scripting language, which now allows use for and while loops as well as using logical operators.

You can find more details about the news in Mailing List ,And now you can update your packages to migrate partitions Btrfs. I suppose the distributions start using the new version of GRUB in the next batch, so until that moment I installed a distro completely Btrfs partitions will be somewhat laborious.

200 million downloads for Angry Birds

The 'Angry Birds' are breaking all records exceeding 200 million downloads between free and paid versions as announced developer responsible for Rovio.

Angry Birds is-by far- most downloaded game in the history of mobile carriers. A set of argument as 'simple' how to get away with wicked pigs based on birds using a slingshot to launch, but its gameplay and addictiveness what is becoming a social phenomenon.

Rio only got Angry Birds ten million downloads in the first ten days supported by multiplatform support downloads mainly adding in Android, IOS or Symbian.

Its success is unlikely to stop as Rovio prepared a special version for accessing Facebook's 600 million of social network users, to the Windows platform Phone 7, the online gaming networks home console of Xbox Live or PS Network and WiiWare.

Unity 2D will come to openSUSE

Unity is the default interface of Ubuntu.11.04 and for teams with few resources, has also created Unity2D.

Nelson Marques, Has been working over the past days in Unity 2D for inclusion in the repositories Gnome: Ayatana of openSUSE.

To do this, and in his words, has created a one-click installer for those who want to try Unity 2D in openSUSE.

Once the Unity 2D developers to integrate it with Compiz ,also be willing to do for this distro.

We left some pretty pictures, in which shows the activation of the slides in Metacity.
