The next Galaxy Unpacked will be held on August 5, as Samsung officially announces. It is the main event of the South Korean firm for the second half of the year and compared to the physical celebration in Brooklyn in recent years, this edition will be celebrated virtually by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Galaxy Unpacked will be broadcast live over the Internet from Samsung US Newsroom, Samsung.com, and other channels to be announced later and will be held at 10am Eastern Time.
What we will see in Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung has not announced the presentations for the event, but it is surely an event focused on the presentation of the company's new mobile devices, smartphones, smartwatches, and perhaps tablets. For the rumors of the last months we expect the following:

Galaxy Fold 2
Samsung's second attempt to power-folding smartphones. Users were looking forward to the arrival of folding smartphones, but the launch of the first generation had a very limited effect on the mobile industry despite its attractiveness for offering something "different" in such a repetitive ecosystem.
Samsung tried it in 2019 with the original Fold, but resistance and robustness issues, few apps, and an exorbitant price limited its impact. The latest rumors tell us of a smartphone that would use the same ultra-thin glass technology used in the Flip. The goal is to protect the troublesome screen layout of the original.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 would increase the screen size to 7.7 inches (compared to 7.3 in the original) and also its native resolution and the refresh rate that would rise to 120 Hz. The screen bezels would be reduced at 3.8 mm. As for the front camera, there is talk of a perforation in the screen to accommodate it and not the retractable camera design that was being used and that would be difficult to implement in this type of design.
The internal hardware is clearer and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 looks like the chipset of choice for this terminal. It is sure to have support for 5G, while the amount of 12 Gbytes of RAM and the six main cameras of the original could be lowered to save costs.
The price of $ 2,000 of the original was out of the market and if Samsung wants to position this type of mobile it has to be lowered yes or yes. It is not known how far the descent will go.
Galaxy Z Flip 5G
A new version of the folding device with support for the new generation of 5G networks. Samsung wants to open a new path in folding devices with this Flip series that marks distances in design, conception, and surely in the target market with the Folds.
If the Fold stands out for a horizontal opening system and a generous size in view of its ability to become a tablet, Z Flip bets for the opposite. It is a tremendously compact smartphone when folded and its size is also displayed content, in this case vertically. Yes, back to the origins of flip phones, with a well-known “shell” design that we have recently seen in the Moto Razr, and that allows good one-handed handling.
Its screen is a flexible OLED with support for HDR10+ protected by an "ultra-thin glass" cover that, compared to typical polycarbonate, should considerably strengthen the panel, develop fewer wrinkles and surely avoid some of the toughest issues in resistance and robustness that affected the Galaxy. Fold. A glass that bends.
We do not expect changes to that design except for the addition of 5G.
Galaxy watch 3
New smartwatch to slow down the leaders of the segment, Apple Watch. From what we know so far, the smartwatch will be marketed in two versions of 41 and 45 mm and will recover the physical rotating bezel that buyers of the original model liked because it facilitated navigation for all its functions as a complement or alternative to the use of the screen. tactile.
The steel case will be the base of the basic versions, although it also points to a titanium version. All of them will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, will offer 5ATM water resistance and will have MIL-STD 810G military certification for shock and drop resistance.
It will also have GPS and Bluetooth, and the connectivity that will define the versions, the basic one with Wi-Fi and the other one with support for 4G-LTE mobile broadband. Other data from the certification tells us about 5-watt wireless charging and manufacturing in Vietnam.
It is believed to have 8 Gbytes of internal storage and a larger battery with a capacity of 330 mAh. It is certain that Samsung will enhance the software section, paying special attention to reinforcing the functions of physical activity and health care.
In addition to the previous ones, it is likely that Samsung will also present a tablet such as the new Galaxy Tab S7 and new headphones such as the Galaxy Buds. We will tell you everything in rigorous live on August 5 at 10am Eastern Time.
