The Red Hat Summit 2020, the big annual open-source leader event, has just been held in which, as usual, numerous new features were presented, including the new version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Red Hat OpenShift. In an unusual way, however, the event was not held in person but was done via the Internet, due to the current situation.
But Red Hat Summit 2020 was a success and the company has decided to continue holding these types of meetings online, starting with a series of webinars focused on what has become its flagship product and the technology for the most demanded hybrid cloud in the market: OpenShift, the Kubernetes business platform developed by Red Hat and which in its new version turns to innovation.
Under the slogan Vitamins of innovation, this series of meetings is the perfect opportunity for those professionals and companies who want to know everything about OpenShift and, in fact, the first of them will dedicate themselves to thoroughly presenting the product and the novelties of their new version, OpenShift 4.4. It will also be done by those who know it best: the Red Hat experts.
Kubernetes is the container orchestration software that has revolutionized Linux in the cloud or, as Red Hat has come to call it, "the new Linux in the cloud"; and OpenShift is the most advanced open-source Kubernetes based solution. The most outstanding innovations of OpenShift 4.4 include, among others:
- OpenShift virtualization, a new feature available as Technology Preview that makes it easier to develop applications in mixed environments composed of virtual machines, containers, and serverless for the hybrid cloud (on-premises and in public clouds).
- OpenShift Serverless, a new model with which to create and run containerized applications as serverless workloads, that is, automatically expandable depending on the demand that is required and back to zero after use.
- Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes, a new tool that simplifies the management of Kubernetes in the hybrid cloud allowing the monitoring of any deployment from a single point of control based on the policies and the life cycle of the applications.
