Gimp 2.7.4 Released, news and how to install it on Ubuntu


A few weeks after the debut of Gimp 2.8 the development team has released a new version for testing 2.7.4 which brings with it some interesting news.

Gimp 2.7.4 should be the last development release before the release of Gimp 2.8 scheduled for January 2012, This version should then bring all the news that we will see the final release of January. The new Gimp 2.7.4 adds a new button closure card in single-window mode also adds improved integration of graphics tablets. Improved importing files in PSD (The popular format Adobe Photoshop which saves the complete picture of all the layers that compose it) and the new interface PDB. Also improved transformation tools and proper stacking canvas items. In this page We can find all the new features in the new Gimp 2.7.4.

We can install the new version 2.7.4 of Gimp on Ubuntu 11.10 and 11.04 by simply typing in a terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:matthaeus123/mrw-gimp-svn
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp
and confirm.
