Ubuntu 11.10: no screensaver? Here's how to install and enable

One of the "newness" of Ubuntu 11.10, I was just passing, concerns screensaver. I do not know if you noticed, but if you leave your PC idle for a while ', will return only the black screen with no screensaver set! The nice thing is that, by default, you will not find any screensaver installed on your Ubuntu Oneiric! So how to solve? Simply install the package but removing xscreensaver to gnome-screensaver.

The first thing to do is open the terminal and type:
sudo apt-get remove gnome-screensaver
Now install the new package:
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver xscreensaver-gl-extra xscreensaver-data-extra
XScreenSaver is a collection of more than 200 screensavers operator for systems with X11, Unix-like but also for Mac OS. Now we have to make the screen saver also active at startup of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric and to do so, open the dash and look for Unity "Applications boot". Now click on "Add" And added:
Name: Screensaver
Command: xscreensaver -splash

Now you just need to choose your favorite screensavers! Open the Dash and run XScreenSaver: You are in front of more than 200 alternatives really nice and well done! It 's all.
