Install PlayOnLinux 3.8.3 in Ubuntu

It is available for download version 3.8.3 of PlayOnLinux, a program that lets you install and use easily numerous games and programs intended to run exclusively on Windows.

Some of its features are:
  • It is not necessary to have a license to use Windows® system PlayOnLinux.
  • PlayOnLinux program is based on Wine, and benefits of all its possibilities, avoiding user to cope with its complexity and always exploiting some advanced features.
  • PlayOnLinux is a free program.
  • PlayOnLinux is written in Bash and Python

We can install or update the deb package:

Once installed press ALT+F2 and in window that opens write playonlinux and give Run button.

When loaded (may ask you somethings download Windows fonts necessary) the first thing you should do is go to Options menu> Environment and tick box to make application appear in Gnome menu:

Then, using Install button, we will deploy on left pane of window, what type of applications you want to install (games, Office, Internet, Multimedia, etc..), Choosing right one will appear in available options:

In some cases, you need CD or DVD with application or game, in others, the search and download from Internet.
