Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 roll-out: here are all the details

Work is going well on the part of the UBPorts guys who are getting used to more and more frequent releases. Just over a month ago they released the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 . With the OTA-6 the Morph web browser has been improved , the ReCaptcha support has been introduced and a new Event dialog in the calendar, the Welcome Wizard has been updated and much more.

This new OTA-7 brings on our devices an important bug fixing work, three new keyboard themes, support for the Mir server display (for Qualcomm based smartphones) and support for the Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi tablet) with Android 5.1.

The Morph web browser has still received the attention of the devs: added the possibility to close the tab (tab) opened by the Tab Switcher. The device will no longer turn off the display if you are watching a video. Fixed an issue that prevented users from closing a single browser window and another bug that reopened the tabs that were closed before opening a new session and other minor issues.

Improves support for the Nexus 4 and for devices with little RAM memory like the BQ Aquaris E4.5 and the BQ Aquaris E5 HD which closed the Unity8 UI when the memory ran out. Introduced support for QtWebEngine replacing Oxide, network side improvements for the Meizu PRO 5.

The roll-out of this update is under way and will end on Sunday 13/01, as announced in the official announcement. These devices are supported: Fairphone 2, Nexus 5, OnePlus One, BQ Aquaris M10 FHD, Meizu PRO 5, Meizu MX4, Nexus 4, BQ Aquaris E4.5, BQ Aquaris E5 HD and Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi).

PS:

If you do not want to wait for the notification to update, you can give the following command in the adb shell:
sudo system-image-cli -v -p 0
Your smartphone will download and install the update.
