Mozilla developers at work to improve Thunderbird

mozilla_thunderbird

The developers behind Thunderbird , a well - known e-mail client developed by Mozilla , have outlined the goals for 2019 and, I must say, if all goes well we can get our hands on a much improved and certainly more complete version of Thunderbird .

Thunderbird will not be as popular as Firefox but it is certainly an application used by many users, especially in GNU/Linux , it is versatile, easy to use and, in my opinion, very convenient.

Thunderbird, in a world where e-mails are often managed by browsers or mobile, is useful for those who need to manage multiple e-mail accounts. It is easily configurable and allows to keep separate all incoming mail as well as the one sent by the various associated accounts. Each account can be configured to use the same SMTP server to send mail messages or different servers. You find it pre-installed even on Ubuntu .

Thunderbird 60 has introduced many full-bodied innovations including a new UI ("Photon UI"), a new logo as well as several fixes and important improvements.

The Thunderbird community manager, Ryan Sipes , said that they are working to refine the UI in order to make Thunderbird more beautiful and functional. Here are his words:
WE HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF FEEDBACK ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE UI/UX AND WE WILL WORK ON IT IN 2019. NEW DEVELOPERS WILL ARRIVE THAT WILL ALLOW US TO ACHIEVE OUR GOALS. WE WILL USE THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES TO REWRITE SOME PARTS OF THUNDERBIRD STARTING TO WORK ON THE CONCEPT OF MULTI-PROCESS.
Among other changes, Thunderbird notifications will soon use the native OS notification system and there will be a "review" of the " settings " section .

It will improve support for Gmail, specifically with regard to labels and other ad-hoc features offered by the Google service.

Web-based email services like Gmail have undoubtedly affected the popularity of desktop email clients, but have not completely erased them. Many people still like to manage their mail offline or use specific add-ons. And this year, Thunderbird developers are willing to offer this group of users an even more solid experience.
