Mozilla release Firefox 4 on 22 March

After a series of delays, the Mozilla project released Firefox version 4.0, on 22 March. Firefox 4 is the next generation web browser based on version 2.0 of the platform of Gecko rendering (the branch of Firefox 3.6 uses Gecko 1.9.2) and has a new add-ons manager and an API management extension, and design a new 'cloud on top. "

According to a post by Damon Sicor, senior director of engineering, in Google group, the date of publication of the stable version of Firefox 4, Tuesday 22 March, has been approved by the TI equipment and Mozilla Marketing. Sicor states that developers continue to look for flaws that could prevent the final release, and a second version candidate would be published "as soon as possible" and the release date would be reset. However, to date the first RC has "received a very warm welcome," said Sicor.

Firefox binaries are distributed under the Software License Agreement for users of Mozilla Firefox and the source code is distributed under choice of three licenses that includes the Mozilla Public License, GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1. The latest stable version of the anterior branch is version 3.6.15, a maintenance update for Firefox 3.6.14, which is available since early this month.
