Install Unity interface in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick

Unity is new interface for Ubuntu Netbook Edition Ubuntu is being developed for 10.10 and now we have it available in repositories of Meerkat (previously only for Lucid).

Unity 0.2.7 is version that is available for Meerkat but has many improvements and no change is visible when installed in a non-UNE, be lacking some elements and by when to launch it manually.

Installing Ubuntu Unity Maverick
sudo apt-get update && sudo aptitude install unity
    To start the interface run Unity
    unity &
    mutter --replace &
      To end the run Unity interface
      metacity --replace
      compiz --replace #if you're using compiz
